WORLD minimum weight champion Florante Condes is at a loss on who to trust regarding his once successful but now stagnant boxing career.
In an interview with the daily morning radio show ?Sports Chat? Thursday, Condes said he has now decided to leave behind all his handlers until everything is settled amongst themselves.
?I don?t know who to trust now. All I want is to fight. I trusted my manager a lot and has been proudly telling my relatives how good he was. But I was shocked when I learned about so many things about them,? said Condes.
The 26-year-old Condes said what he knew all along was that Aljo Jaro was his registered manager but later on learned through the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) that Jaro?s wife is the signatory of their managerial contract.
?I lost my enthusiasm in fighting under him. All I want is to fight for our country. It?s ironic that ever since I won the belt I am now having a hard time getting a fight,? said Condes.
In the same interview, Condes admitted that he never received a single centavo from the $10,000 signing bonus given by the American group.
Since winning the crown, Jaro clashed with their supposed American promoters Cesar Trevino and Bobby Bostick and Puerto Rican co-manager Dante Ortiz.
Trevino and Jaro supposedly settled whatever differences they had in managing Condes when they met sometime in August at GAB office presided over by Chairman Eric Buhain.
The meeting was so intense that at one point Jaro threw a piece of bread towards the direction of Ortiz.
September of 2006, Jaro signed a five-year promotional deal and co-managerial pact with both Trevino and Ortiz, respectively.
In their GAB face-off which initially ended amicably, Trevino handed over to Condes a $5,988.75 check which was the balance of the $9,500 the Americans promised to the Filipino champion for his successful bid for the world crown.
East got his 10% share as registered trainer while Ortiz took his share as co-manager.
Condes (22-3-1, 20 KO?s) won the International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight crown from local boy Muhammad Rachman via a close 12-round split verdict July of last year at the RCTI TV Studio in Jakarta, Indonesia.
As it is now, Team Condes remains fragmented as Condes himself has decided to turn his back from boxing temporarily instead of dealing with people he believes are only after the money he could earn for his upcoming fights.
