Crash, boom, bang. Juan Manuel Marquez, who defends his WBC 130-pound title against Filipino idol Manny Pacquiao March 15 in Las Vegas, showed up in that city this week showing the physical effects of a recent automobile crash.
HBO commentator Jim Lampley revealed that the Mexican fighter had ?a laceration? on his forehead as a result of a car crash. HBO sidekick Manny Steward then noted that it was a serious car wreck.
No one, least of all promoters Golden Boy and Top Rank, have mentioned that the auto mishap will cause the date for this second bout between Marquez and Pacquaio to be changed.
I?m not sure if this accident has been reported in the Mexican press. But the impression given by HBO was that Marquez does not consider the accident to be any big deal.
