Canelo Alvarez remains tipped to make an eventual move to heavyweight level and fans would love to see him go toe-to-toe with Tyson Fury.
The Mexican fighter has won world titles in four weight classes so far in his career and is expected to jump up divisions again to take on WBC cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu.
That fight has already been given the green light for a bout to take place this year, with the winner of Makubu’s bout against Thabiso Mchunu facing off against him.
Many don’t believe cruiserweight is the end for Canelo, with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn and Cuban fighter Frank Sanchez both believing he will eventually move to to heavyweight level.
That possibility has fans dreaming about Canelo going toe-to-toe with Fury, which doesn’t seem beyond the realms of possibility given that Oleksandr Usyk has already opened the door to a bout with Canelo – but Fury would be a difficult proposition entirely.
Canelo has 39 knockouts from 57 victories, while Fury’s record is an incredible 22 knockout wins in 32 bouts and remains undefeated – but the physical match-up of the pair is currently the biggest difference.
Last time out, Canelo weighed in at 12st and Fury was a whopping 7st 11lbs heavier ahead of his trilogy bout against Deontay Wilder.
