Jake Paul says he might just chill for a while.
Maybe take up a YouTube residency at a casino in Monte Carlo? Or create social media content from a yacht named The Problem Child? Or sip on margaritas in Cabo while a tattoo artist adds to the fighter’s collection.
Either way, the chilling won’t last long. Not after Paul improved to 4-0 with a split-decision boxing victory against former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in Cleveland on Sunday night that gives him a chance to make Brinks truck cash with another pay-per-view fight.
So let’s address the obvious question: What’s next for Jake Paul?
The possibilities include:
A rematch with Woodley Immediately after the bout, the two fighters met inside the during a post-fight interview. Woodley said he wanted a rematch. ASAP.
“You had your opportunity,’’ Paul shot back.
Jake’s older brother, Logan, eyed Woodley and said, “Hey, you old news.’’
Then began the waffling. Jake said he’d agree to the rematch if Woodley got a tattoo that says, “I love Jake Paul.”
Later, Jake hedged on any commitment, and Logan is right.
Woodley fighting Jake is old news.
And if Jake is truly committed to stepping up the competition with every fight, it’s time to find another opponent.
Tommy Fury Jake has entertained the possibility of fighting Fury, the brother of heavyweight Tyson Fury, but only if data show that Tommy Fury helped generate pay-per-view buys Sunday night.
A fight with Fury would finally match up Jake against a trained boxer. But the burly Brit looked unpolished and unspectacular Sunday night. He beat Anthony Taylor by unanimous decision and looked unanimously unimpressive against the smaller and inexperienced Taylor.
“People are like, ‘Oh, he’s a real boxer, a real fighter,’ ” Jake said of Fury. “OK, maybe. Let’s run it. OK, real boxer.’’
Conor McGregor That fight may happen, but more likely took take place down the road – and Jake suggested as much.
“Conor McGregor has a lot more to focus on than just me right now,’’ Jake said of the popular but struggling UFC star. “I’m five wins in a row (victories in his four pro fights and one amateur fight.) He’s 1-3 in the past four years.’’
Jorge Masvidal After the popular UFC fighter predicted Woodley would “knock (Jake) the (expletive) out,’’ Jake fired back and expressed interest in fighting Masvidal, a talented MMA fighter who competes as a welterweight in the UFC. Surely the colorful Masvidal could help generate pay-per-view buys, and the prefight trash talk could be as entertaining as the fight itself.
Others Not long before his fight against Woodley, Jake posted online a “Hit List’’ that included potential opponents.
