Unbeaten Filipino Mark Magsayo and Mexican Julio Ceja vow to knock each other out in the undercard of the Pacquiao-Ugas tussle
Unbeaten Mark Magsayo’s readiness to contend for a world title will be known when he tangles with Julio Ceja on Saturday, August 21 (Sunday, August 22, Philippine time) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Magsayo has been installed the favorite in the 12-round eliminator for the World Boxing Council featherweight belt, but Ceja is far from being a pushover.
The Mexican is a former WBC super bantamweight champion who wants to prove that he carries his power to the higher division.
Magsayo and Ceja promised to knock each other out in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas tussle for the World Boxing Association super bantamweight belt.
And both are well equipped to do it.
The 29-year-old Ceja boasts a 32-win, 4-loss record with 28 knockouts for a high 75.7% knockout rate.
Magsayo, on the other hand, has 15 knockouts in 22 wins for a lower 68% rate.
His latent skills further honed by Freddie Roach and Filipino trainer Marvin Somodio at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles, Magsayo said he’s going for an early knockout but wouldn’t mind going the distance against Ceja to prove his stamina is no longer an issue.
In his last bout in April, Magsayo stopped Pablo Cruz in the fourth round.
