THE ALA Gym clarified that they are willing to promote the IBF mandated elimination bout between Z ?The Dream? Gorres and Vic Darchinyan.
The Philippines? most respected boxing patron Antonio Lopez Aldeguer, owner of the world famous ALA Gym, told Sun.Star-Cebu that he is willing to bankroll the Gorres-Darchinyan fight to be held here in the Philippines.
?They (IBF) probably thought that we will not fight because Gorres had an injury. But I told them, we will fight anytime in fact I am willing to promote it,? Aldeguer said.
IBF championship committee chairman Lindsey Tucker Jr. ordered Goress? and Darchinyan?s camps the other day to start negotiations for the IBF super-flyweight eliminator fight.
Both camps have until Nov. 8 to stamp the deal before IBF will order a purse bidding.
?I am ready for him (Darchinyan). I already saw him at the sparring at the Wild Card gym. I have a good chance of winning. Only I should not take him easy because the guy really has the power,? Gorres said.
The 25-year-old Gorres admitted that Fernando Montiel is a far better fighter than Darchinyan.
?If I nearly defeated Montiel, there is no point that I will be getting a hard time against Darchinyan, but as I said I have to be cautious because he has power,? Gorres said.
Gorres will be one of the commentators in the newest boxing reality show ?Idolo?, which will be aired on the second week of November.
Gorres has added a lot of facet to his game since losing to Montiel last February.
His latest prey was the former world champion Eric Ortiz, who was totally outsmarted, out-punched and outwitted using his brand new game plan.
?I just like to thank my managers who never cease to believe in me. They never refuse to give me another chance. I really owe it to them,? Gorres said.
Gorres is now eyeing to fight the newly crowned IBF superflyweight champion Dimitri Kirilov of Russia, who was his sparring partner when he challenged Montiel.
