LAS VEGAS — John Riel Casimero would prefer taking on Nonito Donaire so his targeted duel with Japanese Naoya Inoue would be for all the marbles in the bantamweight division.
Casimero holds the World Boxing Organization 118-lb title while Donaire has the World Boxing Council jewels.
Inoue doesn’t only have the World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation plums but also boasts of The Ring belt.
“That’s the reason why I want to face Donaire first so I will have two world title belts when I finally meet Inoue for the undisputed championship,” Casimero said.
Last Saturday, Casimero beat Guillermo Rigondeaux via split decision in Carson, California.
Casimero is also in town to watch Manny Pacquiao collide with Yordenis Ugas of Cuba at T-Mobile Arena.
“I will spend one month in the Philippines for a vacation then return here so I can begin training camp for whoever is next,” he added.
They were supposed to fight each other but Donaire pulled out after Casimero allegedly violated terms in the fight contract.
