PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Thursday appointed People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao as the new tourism ambassador of Sarangani.
Arroyo made the announcement when she introduced Pacquiao as the “tourism ambassador of Sarangani” during the 7th Regional Cooperative Summit for Region 12.
Pacquiao, who had a private meeting with the President before the event, thanked Arroyo for his new assignment. He added that despite his new designation, he would continue his studies at the Ateneo De Manila University and his preparations for future fights.
Pacquiao last October 7 won against Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Barrera in Las Vegas, retaining his title as WBC International Super Featherweight champion.
Malaca?ang last year conferred the Order of Lakandula-Champion for Life award to Pacquiao for his various victories in boxing. (JMR/Sunnex)
