The least popular fighter under MP Promotions is resurfacing sometime in February 2021, more than a year removed from his last fight.
Pedro Taduran, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight champion, makes a choice defense against compatriot Rene Cuarto, MP Promotions head Sean Gibbons said.
Taduran (14-2-1 with 11 knockouts) and Cuarto (18-2-2 with 11 knockouts) are likely to collide in a city outside Metro Manila, according to Gibbons given the coronavirus situation in the Metro Manila.
One of four reigning Filipino world champions, all aligned with the Manny Pacquiao-owned MP Promotions, Taduran traveled to Guadalupe, Mexico, early this year, and defended against Daniel Valladares.
In a slambang affair, Taduran and Valladares battled to draw after a hideous cut was opened on the Mexican challenger’s eyebrow. Being the champion, Taduran retained the IBF 105-lb crown.
MP Promotions also represents Pacquiao, Jerwin Ancajas and John Riel Casimero and even rising stars Eumir Marcial, Mark Magsayo and recently-minted World Boxing Council interim bantamweight titlist Reymart Gaballo.
