BOXING hero Manny Pacquiao prefers the pulse of his fans to tell him who to fight next.
Pacquiao explained during the press conference held at the Del Sol Room of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel yesterday that he will listen to those who have closely followed his fights.
?I?ll just refer it to the surveys. I want the people to decide on who will be my next opponent,? said Pacquiao.
Pacquiao confirmed that he will be staying on the super featherweight division because of Edwin Valero. ?He showed up at my post-fight press conference with (Marco Antonio) Barrera only to tell me that he is the only one who can beat me. I exclaimed wow,? Pacquiao added.
Pacquiao admitted that Valero is a tough opponent because of his vaunted power. ?But I am not afraid of him and that kind of opponent is what I like to fight. I know someday our path will come across and we will know if he is really the one to take me down,? Pacquiao added.
However, the Filipino tornado wanted to set aside the worrying for the moment.
?Set aside muna yan. My focus is on the other events and other commitments, like the basketball tournament which I?ll be playing here and the 1st MP International Billiards on Oct. 24 to 27 and we have a boxing promotions coming up,? Pacquiao said.
However, aside from getting physical with the other sports, Pacquiao is also catching up on his collegiate lessons; finishing his latest flick ?Anak ng Kumander,? where he played as a rebel commander; doing his first reality show with GMA-7.
Pacquiao arrive yesterday to pay courtesy to the Cebuanos who were very supportive when he was training at the RWS Gym in Punta Princesa.
?I am here to thank you Cebuanos for the support you gave me. I?ve been to a lot of places and I can say that you accepted me in a very different way,? said Pacquiao.
Pacquiao paid homage to Cebu?s patron, the Sto. Ni?o, shortly after he arrived in the Cebu.
He also admitted that he drew his strength and courage from his devotion to the Holy Child.
For his next fight, he and trainer Freddie Roach has considered training once again in Cebu because they believe the place is very good for endurance and stamina.
Roach himself has considered buying a condominium unit in the city while Pacquiao is now planning to build a home here.
