Like Elephant, Pacman Works For Peanuts
Manny Pacquaio, Marco Antonio Barrera Bout Contracts Show $2 Million To Each!

There is one place where Manny Pacquaio and Marco Antonio Barrera are dead even.

Pacman is the huge betting favorite and it?s hard to find any boxing pundit, other than Boxingconfidential?s eccentric John Chavez, who picking Barrera to pull of what would be a stunning upset.

But, on their official bout contracts filed with the Nevada State Athletic Commission, both the fading Mexican legend and the Pinoy national idol are said to be getting purses of $2 million each.

I keep telling you guys Pacquaio is vastly underpaid.

Keep in mind that the amounts listed on the bout contracts do not include Filipino TV rights which go to Megamanny or Mexican broadcast rights which likely go, at least in part, to Barrera.

And keep in mind that Nevada, like every other American commission, does not require that promotional contracts, sponsorship deals, bonus agreements or broadcasting rights contracts be filed.

My educated guess is that, when all is said and done, Manny flies home with $5 million. Still not a proper payment in a world in which Ricky Hatton gets an $8 million guarantee to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Given his stature, it?s still peanuts. Pachyderms work for peanuts but Pacman shouldn?t.

Not when he is the world?s best pound-for-pound fighter.
