Taken from their recent media conference calls, both fighters speak out on their thoughts about the rematch, their fight plans, and more!
Pacquiao: ?I believe he’s going to box me. We know that already and we’re prepared for that. We’ve prepared everything. Freddie Roach and I have worked on a lot of techniques.?
Barrera: ?I’m expecting the best Manny Pacquiao there is. In our first fight, I had a bad night. I’m not going to make any excuses. It was a bad night. But the difference in this fight is that training has been great. I’ve had a great training camp. And there’s no excuses.?
Pacquiao: ?I know he’s planning some techniques for this coming fight, but I don’t have to comment on that. I’m always focused on my fight. I don?t make any excuses after the fight. That’s why I always put myself in 100% condition and get ready to fight. There were no distractions when we trained in the Philippines. During my training I’m very focused and concentrated on the fight.?
Barrera: ?The difference in this fight is going to be the inspiration within me. I’m really inspired for this fight and training camp has been real relaxed. There have been no problems. Everything has been going really smooth. This is a personal fight for me. It’s very personal. I’m taking it personal. He beat me so I have to get my revenge.?
Pacquiao: ?I will not be overconfident and give him a chance for revenge. I have worked hard for this fight and I have trained hard to get in shape. I’m 100% conditioned and I feel good and ready to fight.?
Barrera: ?(The loss in the first fight) has been a thorn in my side because he’s beaten so many Mexicans. Obviously I want to put a stop to that. He’s beaten not only me, but other Mexicans have suffered and been defeated by him. I want to put a stop to that.?
Pacquiao: ?They call me a national treasure and a hero in the Philippines. I do feel I?ve earned that but I’m also very humbled by it. I have a big responsibility to my countrymen. I’m still a humble and simple man, the same as before. There’s no changes with my life.?
Barrera: ?I’m going to make a good fight. I think that the public is going to be very, very happy. It’s going to be a very good fight. They’re going to like the fight. You know, there’s not too much I can change. I’m 33 years old. I have my style. People know the way I fight. Everybody knows me. You know, I really can’t go into details, but I’m just going to make it a good fight. It’s going to be a very good fight.?
