Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is putting his earnings in wise investments — his children’s education.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who invited Pacquiao to attended the MassKara celebration, said Pacquiao told him that he is spending P750,000 for each of his two sons who are presently enrolled at Brent International School in Manila. Manny wants his children to have a very good education, something that he was not able to have when he was young, Leonardia said.
Lack of finances prevented him from going to school but he made up for it by reading books and he is proud to say that he was able to read the thick volumes of boxing rules, the mayor added.
Pacquiao told the mayor that he might visit Bacolod during the Masskara celebration but not on the Charter Day as it falls on a Friday, a school day. The boxing champ has gone back to school and excitedly showed his school I.D. to Leonardia in their last meeting.
The mayor will be in Las Vegas on Oct. 6 with the Pacquiao team to cheer him in his fight against Mexican Antonio Barrera. Leonardia was personally requested by Pacquiao to carry his champion’s belt during the match.
The Pacquiao-Barrera rematch is scheduled for 12 rounds at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas.*NAB
