Jerwin Ancajas is being kept behind closed doors going into the final days of the Filipino champion?s buildup for his eighth defense of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight crown on Nov. 2 in Carson, California.
Ancajas dressed up for work Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) after landing in the US late last week and did the skipping rope routine and shadowboxed in the presence of lead trainer Joven Jimenez.
Ancajas puts the IBF 115-lb throne against Jonathan Rodriguez of Mexico at the Dignity Health Sports Park and he is using the remaining days to remain in terrific shape and at the same time get rid of excess baggage.
Nutritionist Jeaneth Aro is also working double time to make sure Ancajas? weight drops in time for next week?s official weighin.
Assisting Jimenez in the daily routine of watching over the workout in a rented house in Redondo Beach is Fernando Parcon and Alvin Go, who also serves as the team?s official photographer.
