Jimuel Pacquiao suffered his first defeat as an amateur boxer on Saturday, losing by a split decision to Ken Danila of Imus, Cavite in their 140-lbs three-round friendly boxing match in the event titled To Beat or Not to Beat, at the Johnny Bravo boxing gym in Novaliches, Quezon City.
The 18-year-old eldest son of eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao confirmed his loss to The Manila Times in a phone interview, admitting that his opponent has more experience than him.
Jimuel Pacquiao, whose win-loss record dropped to 4-1, vowed to bounce back from the defeat.
?Tuloy pa rin po ako sa boxing (I will continue boxing),? said the young Pacquiao, who won his previous fight against Kim Daryl Marquez via unanimous decision in Muntinlupa last June 29.
The 15-year-old Danila, undefeated in three fights, described his victory over Pacquiao?s son as morale-boosting.
?Gusto ko pong maging world champion saka magpo-pro po ako (I want to become a world champion and to turn pro),? Danila of Imus National High School told The Manila Times via online interview on Monday. ?Magtatatlong buwan pa lang po ako nagbo-boxing (I?ve been boxing for only three months).?
Danila of Power Up Boxing and Athletics Fitness Center Imus said Jimuel?s father, Manny Pacquiao, is his idol.
