Manny Pacquiao welcomed two personages from the International Boxing Federation (IBF) at the Senate on Wednesday and teased about taking Errol Spence?s welterweight belt.
?We?ll win it,? Pacquiao answered when his right-hand man Sean Gibbons told him that IBF president Daryl Peoples was going to present him with a special belt from the IBF.
?What belt is this from?? asked Pacquiao as he examined the belt that was handed over to him by People and IBF Ratings Committee chairman Anibal Miramontes.
?IBF, like Spence?s,? said Gibbons.
Pacquiao?s face lit up when reminded that the unbeaten Spence holds the IBF welter belt.
The IBF big bosses are in town to watch this Saturday night?s fight for the vacant IBF minimumweight crown starring two Filipinos?Samuel Salva and Pedro Taduran?at the Philippine Marine Corps Base in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig.
Pacquiao?s MP Promotions, led by Gibbons, is offering the fight free to the public as one way of giving back to the community.
Pacquiao is coming off a rousing win over Keith Thurman in a World Boxing Association showdown and is expected to be back in the ring sometime in mid-March.
Spence, tall and rangy, has expressed his desire to lock horns with Pacquiao after his clash with Shawn Porter late this month in Los Angeles.
