Manny Pacquiao was so impressed by John Riel Casimero?s dramatic knockout win late Saturday night that he will move heaven and earth to bid for the staging of the Filipino puncher?s shot at Zolani Tete?s World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight title in the US in November.
Sean Gibbons, the president of the Pacquiao-owned MP Promotions, said on Sunday that Casimero has the full backing of the eight-division world champion.
Casimero scored an emphatic tenth-round knockout of Mexican Cesar Ramirez in their WBO interim title fight at the San Andres Sports Complex.
Tete is now on the way to recovery from an injury and is mandated to defend against Casimero within 90 days and the WBO said, through its Asia-Pacific representative Leon Panoncillo, that both camps can now start negotiations.
?On Monday Senator Manny Pacquiao and his MPP will make a significant offer along with out partner PBC (Premier Boxing Champions) to do the fight in the United States in November of this year,? said Gibbons, who joined Pacquiao at ringside.
?Senator Pacquiao is committed to creating the best scenarios for his MPP fighters to have a level playing field to win,? he added.
Casimero, who raised his record to 28-4 with 19 KOs, had a hard time disposing of the brave and elusive Ramirez
Tete, a southpaw, is promoted by British Frank Warren and he is expected to bring the fight to England.
Tete has a 28-3 record with 21 KOs with five Filipinos, including two-time world title challenger King Arthur Villanueva, on the list of victims.
