Former WBC light flyweight champ Brian Viloria is now working out at the Pound-for-Pound gym in Los Angeles under former Manny Pacquiao conditioning coach Justin Fortune.
Viloria confirmed today that Fortune is now his trainer, and that fans can expect to see him back in the ring sometime in November.
“Brian looked a little big, he must be walking around 125 lbs,” said a source who was at the gym today.
There were plans to pit Viloria in a sparring session with two-time title challenger Rodel Mayol, but Fortune put his foot down saying Viloria should first get in shape.
“He did a lot of abdominal workout with Justin. He did say he plans to campaign in the 112 lbs division, depending on who he will be fighting in the flyweight division,” added the source.
Fortune Says Manny Will Win
Fortune was also asked concerning Pacquiao’s upcoming fight with Marco Antonio Barrera.
“I know Manny pretty well, and he will go for the kill,” said Fortune.
Asked about Pacquiao’s training in the Philippines, the US-based Canadian said “he should not train in the Philippines, there are too much distraction there” but added that “No person can tell Manny what to do, he is the boss.”
Fortune said that Pacquiao will win, either by decision or knockout. “There is no doubt in my mind, Manny is already a made boxer, he had the ring savvy, speed and power.”
When asked about Pacquiao’s new conditioning coach, former two division world champion Dodie Boy Penalosa, Fortune said he had no comment on the issue.
