Dillian Whyte branded Deontay Wilder an ‘absolute weapon’ and compared the American with Borat after his woeful attempt at an English accent.
The ‘Bronze Bomber’ was asked about facing Anthony Joshua in the future when fielding questions at a press conference ahead of Saturday’s scrap with Dominic Breazeale.
And he put on an accent in saying: ‘They wanted to stay over in England. The fans in England believe they deserve the fight there.’
Whyte took to Twitter to mock Wilder, posting a video comparing his heavyweight rival’s accent to Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat character.
In fairness, there was an uncanny similarity between Wilder’s effort and the fictitious Kazakh journalist.
Alongside the video was the caption: ‘What an absolute weapon. #TOOL #COMPLETETOOL’
Whyte is to face dangerous Colombian Oscar Rivas in July but perhaps he is laying the foundations for a meeting with Wilder in the future.
The 31-year-old British fighter is in line for a huge contest if he can find a way past Rivas.
With Wilder, Tyson Fury and Joshua signed to different television companies and unlikely to face each other in the near future, there could be opportunities aplenty for Whyte.
