Filipino promoter Rod Nazario and boxing manager Aljoe Jaro are joining hands in staging Florante Condes’ first defense of the IBF mini-flyweight title either against former titlist Muhammad Rachman of Indonesia or Lorenzo Trejo of Mexico. Nazario and Jaro, who handles the heavy-handed Condes, have agreed that the title fight be held on Nov. 16 at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo, Riza. “Rachman is the priority opponent and I will be talking with his camp soon,” said Jaro. “If he’s not available, then we will look for another challenger and Trejo is also being considered.”
“There’ll be an abundance of worthy challengers and I might even try to bring in a dark-skinned banger from Africa,” added Jaro, who use to box professional before he decided to manage fighters in Bingangonan. Condes had taken the IBF 105-lb crown with a hard-earned 12-round split decision over Rachman last July 7 in Jakarta. Trejo, nicknamed ‘Explosivo’, is a 30-year-old from Ciudad Obregon who has been a pro since 1995. Known hereabouts as “Little Pacquiao”, Condes plans to report for training soon as he wants to prove that his victory over Rachman was not a fluke.
