No holidays: Pacquiao trains amid 4th of July celebration in US

There are no holidays for Filipino pride Sen. Manny Pacquiao and his opponent, defending champion Keith Thurman, as both fighters stayed in fight mode during the 4th of July festivities in the United States.

While the fighting senator of the Philippines chose to train instead of resting, Pacquiao still sent a short message to the American people.

?Happy fourth of July to all of you guys, enjoy the holiday,? said Pacquiao, who has been training in the US.

Thurman, on the other hand, reminded his followers on Instagram on the real ?fireworks? that is set to happen on July 20, fight day between him and Pacquiao.

?Don?t forget July 20th we got real fireworks coming your way vs Manny Pacquiao stay tuned!? Thurman said.

Pacquiao had a 10-round mitt session at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood in front of hundreds of fans while his sparring partners spent the holiday with their families.

After his morning workout, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Southern California, and the deeply religious fighter was unfazed.

?I?m not alarmed, normal, it?s only written in the Bible. It is Jesus who told us that it is the beginning of birth pains when we hear rumor of wars, earthquakes in various places. You know the summer is near it?s the beginning of birth pains,? Pacquiao said.

Aside from training, Pacquiao also juggled his time for his senatorial duties. This past week, the fighting senator filed a bill to create an office for homeland security in the Philippines, and a proposal to revive the death penalty.

?We actually filed 10 priority bills in the Senate. I included death penalty, homeland security, and other bills, I have a lot of bills to file in the senate but that is 10 priority bills I filed first,? Pacquiao said.
