A team from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) showed up unannounced Wednesday at Manny Pacquiao?s residence in Los Angeles and got blood samples from boxing?s eight-division champion.
Pacquiao was headed home after his morning run when samples were taken from him, said Pacquiao?s right-hand man Joe Ramos.
Citing jet lag, Pacquiao opted to sit out the afternoon training session but rebounded when he went the whole nine yards on Thursday, rising before sunrise for his roadwork and sparring in the afternoon.
VADA, an organization that promotes anti-doping practices in boxing and mixed martial arts, will send the samples to the World Anti-Doping Agency for testing as Pacquiao enters the most crucial stage of his Jan. 19 showdown with Adrien Broner at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The Broner bout will be Pacquiao?s first defense of the World Boxing Association welterweight crown he took from Argentine Lucas Matthysse last July in Kuala Lumpur.
It will also mark the first time in over two years that Pacquiao will climb the ring on US soil. His lone fight in 2017 took place in Brisbane, Australia.
