LOS ANGELES – After 2 years of fighting overseas, Manny Pacquiao is back in a familiar place, squeezing in a routine morning jog as he prepares to face Adrien Broner.
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar TJ Perkins joined the People’s Champ and both had a pick-up basketball game.
As Pacquiao continues to make new friends, an old friend is coming back.
Coach Freddie Roach will return to Team Pacquiao. The pair met late Tuesday night to discuss Roach?s new role as consultant.
It was the first time they spoke since the controversial 2017 loss to Jeff Horn.
Now working with Al Haymon and the Premier Boxing Champions series, Pacquiao hopes this deal can lead to a better boxing future for all Filipinos.
“I?m really thankful to partner with Al Haymon to have a chance to work with him. He?s a nice guy, his people are very nice guys so it?s also a big opportunity for my fighters to have a chance to have a fight here in America. Especially I have a lot of fighters in the Philippines. Almost 50 fighters,” Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao?s last fight, a knockout win over Lucas Matthysse, was streamed by Top Rank and ESPN.
The Janurary 19th bout will be carried on Showtime pay-per-view with tickets going on sale this weekend.
Pacquiao will head back to the Philippines Wednesday night, wherein he will continue his Senate work and celebrate his birthday.
