FOR his deepest involvement and being an influential personality inside the Team ALA Gym, Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim got an invitation from Oscar dela Hoya himself to be the ringside when the World Cup boxing Mexico vs. The Philippines takes place Arco Arena in Sacramento, California USA on Aug. 11.
“It gives me great pleasure to write this letter to you. As (an) influential figure for ALA Boxing, I would like to personally commend you in your extraordinary career. You have served our beautiful sport of boxing with dedication and passion. I would like to have you present ringside as my personal guest,” dela Hoya said in his letter to Lim.

Lim, who was largely responsible for the aggressive campaign for the careers of Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista, who will be the main event of the World Cup, fighting Mexico’s Daniel Ponce de Leon for the latter’s WBO Super-bantamweight title.
It was Lim who also gave prominence to the Boholano boxers, including Czar Amonsot who will be gunning for Australia’s Michael Katsidis WBO Lightweight Interim belt on July 21 (July 22 RP time).
Dela Hoya also added that the fight will be aired worldwide by HBO and ABS-CBN.

Six bouts are scheduled to be fought in the card that includes Tagbilaran City’s adopted son and Corella, Bohol descent AJ “Bazooka” Banal who will be facing another litmus test against former world champion Eric Ortiz.
To recall, it was Lim who staged a very successful promotion in Tagbilaran City in November 2005, when Bautista defended his then WBO Asia Pacific Bantamweight belt against Obote Ameme of Tanzania while Amonsot won the WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title against Viktor Masaul.
