THE world?s leading boxing commentator Bob Sheridan has broadcast 10,000 fights and says Terence Crawford is one of the very best he?s seen in more than half a century behind the microphone.
He says the Crawford-Jeff Horn fight being rescheduled for Las Vegas in May will be ?an absolute barnburner?? and that Horn is one of the few boxers in the world capable of throwing the unbeaten American off his game.
The great Floyd Mayweather has said Crawford reminds him of a younger version of himself but Sheridan says Crawford has many more weapons in his arsenal.
?Crawford is a very different fighter to Mayweather, who was primarily a defensive genius but was not that exciting to watch,?? Sheridan said.
?Crawford fights. Every fight he has is an action fight because he is trying to knock the other guy out and that?s why it will be a thriller with Jeff, who is so tough and aggressive.
?I?ve probably called 15 of Crawford?s fights for television and I know him really well. He?s a nice quiet kid outside the ring but he comes from a very tough background on the streets.?
Crawford is so tough in fact, that in 2008 he drove himself to hospital after being shot in the back of the head with a 9mm pistol after a late night dice game under a streetlight in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.
He recovered from the gunshot to win his fifth pro fight a few weeks later and now has a record of 32 wins in 32 fights, having unified both the lightweight and light-welterweight divisions.

?He?s a heavy favourite to beat Jeff and he deserves to be favourite ? he?s beaten a lot of undefeated champions and in all the times I have seen him fight, I?ve never really seen anyone hurt him or test him out. Most of his fights are very one sided.??
Sheridan, 73, who called his first world title fight in 1968 when heavyweight Jimmy Ellis beat Jerry Quarry, said he assumed Crawford had postponed the April 14 fight with ?a legitimate injury??.
?Crawford is making his debut at welterweight (66.68kg) and he knows he has to be 100 per cent against Jeff,?? he said.
?He?s not taking Jeff lightly because nobody expected Jeff to beat Manny Pacquiao last year.
?Jeff is so tough and resilient. He reminds me of another great welterweight, Felix Trinidad, who had tremendous recuperative powers. If you knocked Felix down or hurt him, he came back at you even harder and that?s what Jeff is like.
?Crawford certainly hasn?t fought anyone as relentless as Jeff Horn.??
