EDMUND Villamor is optimistic that International Boxing Federation (IBF) Donnie Neites will barrel through challenger and two-division world champion Juan Carlos Reveco tomorrow in one of the main features of ?Superfly 2? at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
?This our biggest fight because it?ll be shown on HBO. I believe that our chance of winning is a hundred percent,? a confident Villamor, Neites? head trainer, told SunStar Cebu.
Villamor firmly believes that they will win because Reveco?s style is a perfect fit for Nietes.
?His style is a perfect fit for Donnie because he doesn?t come in,? he said. ?Donnie has a longer reach. Donnie?s jab will be very useful. We will be in front of him all the time.? But even though Villamor sees them having a huge edge, he still thinks that they should never let their guard down one bit.
?Yes (we will fight technically), because he?s a two division world champion and can?t be taken lightly,? he said.
The 35-year-old Nietes has had a very good training camp in preparation for Reveco, thanks to fellow Filipino Brian Viloria.
?It was a huge boost because there?s a part of Brian?s style that is similar to Reveco?s,? said Villamor.
Nietes was also sparring with a couple of newcomers in Christian Robles and Joseph Cuellar.
Nietes earned his third division world title with a convincing unanimous decision win over Komgrich Nantapech in April.
The 34-year-old Reveco, in the meantime, got mandatory challenger status with a lopsided unanimous verdict over Nantapech in a title eliminator in September.
Nietes 40-1-4 with 22 knockouts, while Reveco is 39-3 with 19 knockouts.
Also seeing action in the same card is Viloria.
The 37-year-old Viloria (38-5, 23 KOs) is up against unbeaten Ukrainian Artem Dalakian (15-0, 11 KOs) for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) in one of the featured fights.
Superfly 2 is headlined by a title defense of World Boxing Council (WBC) super flyweight king Srisaket Sor Rungvisai against former world champion Juan Franciso Estrada. (EKA)
