FORMER world champion Marlon Tapales ends his long layoff as he takes on sturdy veteran Rivo Rengkung on March 17 at the Bendigo Exhibition Center in Bendigo, Australia.
Th 25-year-old Tapales last saw action last April 23 in a rematch against Shohei Omori in Osaka, Japan. Tapales lost his World Boxing Organization bantamweight belt on the scales after tipping the scales overweight. He, however, stopped Omori in 11 rounds.
The 33-year-old Renkung is a veteran of 66 pro fights. He has fought the likes of Mike Tawatchai, Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat, Somsak Sithchatchawal, Thangthong Klongjan, Surasak Makordae, Sod Looknongyantoy and Terdsak Jandaeng.
After back-to-back wins in 2016, Renkung lost his only fight in 2017 against Tawatchai by a fifth. Round stoppage in Thailand. (EKA)
