Ganoy’s crisp jab, stingy right did the Indonesian in

RANEE Ganoy retained his IBF Pan Pacific Lightweight title after pulling a one-sided victory over Joey de Ricardo of Indonesia at the Masfield Tavern in Mansfield, Brisbane, Australia Friday evening.

Ganoy scored a perfect 120 fight from the two judges with the third tallying 118 as the Nuralla, South Cotabato native puncher did not disappoint the audience using crisp jabs and stingy right to deprive Ricardo of the IBF regional belt.

Adrian Cairns scored 120-108, Derek Milham gave 120-107 and Wally Lewis tallied 118-110 all for Ganoy, who now improved to 23-10-2, 19KOs.

Series

The victory was Ganoy’s sixth straight win since losing to WBO Lightweight champion Michael Katsidis in August 2005 by TKO on the fourth round.

Ganoy won the vacant belt from former world champion Robbie Peden last March on the eighth round on the same city, where Peden grew.

Peden lost his IBF 130 lbs. belt when he fought and lost to Mexican icon Marco Antonio Barrera in September 2005.

The win is fitting to the 27-year-old fighter of the Dido Bohol Stable who has proven to rise from the ranks despite many losses in Australia.

Not as lucky

His win over Ricardo stymied the hope of the Indonesian to win the belt after he was stopped by Lovemore N’dou in July 2005. He slipped to 11-2-2, 7KOs record.

Unfortunately, his stablemate Ramil Caballes was not as lucky as he bowed to Tryrone Tongia by unanimous decision.

The scorecards read at identical 59-55 all. (RCM)
