Manny Pacquiao has failed in his bid to win a seat in the Philippines Congress.
The ‘Pacman’ had hoped to translate his ring stardom into political power in the elections in his home country.
But according to ESPN he lost to Darlene Custodio, who said Filipinos weren’t prepared to lose their boxing idol to politics.
Pacquiao meanwhile told ABS-CBN television: “I accept the result of the canvassing.
He urged Custodio and other winning candidates to “make good on their promise to help the poor.”
“If that happens, I would be happy, it would be like a victory for me.”
