MANILA, Philippines — Manny Pacquiao has conceded to incumbent General Santos Representative Darlene Antonino-Custodio, who is set to be proclaimed by the Commission on Elections a few hours from now.
“Tinatanggap ko ang naging resulta ng Comelec counting,” Pacquioa said in an interview with ABS-CBN aired over DZMM Teleradyo Sunday.
He said that he has no regrets over making a run for Congress, but added he has no plans to run again in 2010.
He extended his best wishes to his opponent and shared a message for Custodio.
“Sana tuparin nila ang mga pangako na makakatulong sila sa mga mahihirap. Pag nangyari yun para na rin akong nanalo (I hope they will keep their promise to help the poor. If that happens, it’s almost like I won),” Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao will now take a vacation in the US with his family, according to the report. He promised to make up for lost family time with his children, due to his busy schedule training for bouts and then campaigning.
