After 12 rounds of Manny Pacquiao versus Jeff Horn, there are plenty of rounds being bought on Caxton Street this afternoon.
As boxing got a new WBO welterweight champion after Brisbane schoolteacher Horn won in a unanimous points decision, the party was long from over, with bars cashing in as the crowd of 50,000 departed Suncorp Stadium.
Lines started growing at Caxton Street venues, nearby bottle shops, food retailers and also Honey B’s strip club in the half hour after the decision was announced, while others ambled slowly towards public transport hubs.
Police, including the Public Safety Response Team, mounted police and bicycle officers, were out in force.
At 4.17pm, police were called to outside the Kettle & Tin cafe on Given Terrace, Paddington, where a man was allegedly pushing people and threw an avocado in someone’s face.
He was being held down when police arrived. Officers arrested him and took him to the watchhouse, a police spokesman said.
