Floyd Mayweather has mocked Conor McGregor ahead of their upcoming bout by claiming that Tyron Woodley, rather than the Irishman, is the best fighter in UFC.
The former five-weight world champion will meet ‘The Notorious’ in a money-spinning fight in Las Vegas on August 26, hoping to take his professional record to 50-0.
The historic cross-over bout has been labelled a mismatch by many, given McGregor has never boxed professionally. And Mayweather has poured further scorn on his opponent by claiming that McGregor isn’t even the best in his own sport.
In a video posted alongside Woodley, internet sensation Dan Bilzerian and stunt performer Lin Oeding, the undefeated American said of the current welterweight champion: ‘This is the best UFC fighter right here!’
Woodley then goaded the Irishman by captioning the Instagram post: ‘#MoneyMay has something to say!!!! #BestUFCFighter @ufc @floydmayweather and @danbilzerian and @linoeding there for Back up in case @thenotoriousmma has something to say’.
The match-up between two of the biggest names in combat sports was officially confirmed on June 14 following months of speculation and verbal jousting between the pair.
