In some ways, a Michigan family with unique ties to Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather would just as soon forget them.
Mike Grable went the distance with De La Hoya in a 1993 lightweight fight, the first to do so as a pro. But it was a hard eight-round journey.
“Do you know what that’s like, having the highlight of your life being that you took a better beating than anyone else has taken?” Grable said.
