MANILA, Philippines ? Unbeaten light-welterweight champion Terence Crawford, recently ordered jailed for ?disorderly conduct? in his native Nebraska, presents a very tough fight for Manny Pacquiao.
If the 38-year-old Filipino superstar chooses to fight Crawford next, it will be a dangerous fight.
?It?s not an easy fight. It?s a tough fight, yes, but it?s one that we have to say yes to if that?s the only thing out there,? said trainer Freddie Roach in an interview with Fight Hub TV.
?We don?t wanna just be fighting nobodies and so forth to stay in the game. We still want to be the best. If you can?t be the best in something, or if you have no dream of winning another world title, you don?t need to be in this sport because you?ll get hurt,? said Roach.
Crawford is not an ordinary fighter.
The 29-year-old American is undefeated in 30 fights with 21 knockouts, including an eighth-round stoppage of John Molina. He is the reigning WBO and WBC champion at 140 pounds.
Crawford received the 2014 Fighter of the Year award from the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), an honor that has been given Pacquiao more than a couple of times, not including the Fighter of the Decade award.
Crawford thinks that his victory over Molina should net him a second BWAA award.
Roach is aware of this.
