After his eighth round knockout loss to Cesar Juarez of Mexico, Filipino boxing sensation Albert Pagara aims to bounce back in a 12-rounder fight against Raymond Commey of Ghana on Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Cebu Coliseum, Cebu City, Philippines.
Pagara had an impressive 26-fight winning streak when he suffered his first career loss against Juarez last July at the San Mateo Event Center, San Mateo, California. Pagara will be joining his brother Jason and Milan Melindo in the Pinoy Pride series No. 39 scheduled for Saturday in Cebu City, Philippines. The 22-year-old fighter from Maasin City, Southern Leyte, Philippines, was part of the Philippine-based ALA Promotions debut in the U.S. along with brother Jason, Mark Magsayo and longest-reigning Filipino world boxing champion Donnie Niertes. All four of them won their respective fights in a well-attended weekend boxing event dubbed “Pinoy Pride 34. Commey has 19 pro fights to his credit, winning 16 with three defeats. He is coming off a TKO win against Raymond Ansahn last April in Accra, Ghana. Pagara’s co-featured fighter Melindo is aiming for his first world championship belt after two failed attempts in the last three years. He is set to face Fahlan Sakkreerin, Jr. of Thailand (31-4; 16 KOs) for the interim IBF world junior flyweight belt. Meanwhile, Pagara’s brother Jason will also see action on the same card against Jose Alfaro of Nicaragua. Like Melindo, Jason has yet to win a major world title after 39 wins and two defeats. Pinoy Pride 39 will be shown on free TV on Sunday on ABS-CBN on 3:30 p.m., and on ABS-CBN Sports+Action at 6:30 p.m.
