The line to the Pacquiao Sweepstakes just gets getting longer each day.
This as dangerous Mexican Humberto Soto virtually threw himself into the fray, informing mediamen that he is going to be the next opponent for Manny Pacquiao.
“Manny is next for me,” Soto told mediamen at yesterday’s ‘Blaze of Glory’ card which was promoted by Top Rank, which also promotes him.
Pundits believe that a possible Pacquiao-Soto bout is easier to make compared to a Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez showdown due to promotional concerns. Marquez is being promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, Top Rank’s chief rival.
Top Rank’s Bob Arum has been reportedly positioning Soto as the next marquee opponent for Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao, however, announced yesterday after the fight that he would like to face Marquez in a rematch of their first encounter, or Marco Antonio Barrera.
However, before Soto can start talking about the ‘Pacman,’ he has yet to face another Pacquiao when he takes on Bobby Pacquiao June 9 in New York’s Madison Square Garden.
“I will be there to watch that fight, that’s for sure,” said Manny Pacquiao, when told that Soto will be fighting Bobby next.
