Canoy, Purisima settle business in Omega Pro Sports

JASON Canoy settles his unfinished business with fellow grizzled veteran Jetly Purisima as they headline Omega Pro Sports International and West Cebu Industrial Park?s ?Rumble sa Balamban? in a rematch on Sept. 30 at the Balamban Sports Complex.

Four years ago, Canoy fought Purisima but the fight was stopped in the second round following a huge gash on Purisima?s left eyebrow, declaring the fight a technical draw.

Since their meeting, the 26-year-old Canoy went 10-3, while Purisima went 4-7-1.

Canoy is coming off an impressive unanimous decision over tough Jestoni Autida in June and has won four of his last five matches since last year.

Tough

Purisima, meantime, is still as tough as nails, but has lost six of his last seven since 2015.

Canoy is 25-6-2 with 18 knockouts, while the 28-year-old Purisima is 21-19-4 with six knockouts.

Promising up-and-comer Salatiel Amit (8-1-2, 6 KOs) trades leathers with battle-scarred veteran Rodel Tejares (20-39-7, 5 KOs) in the main supporting bout.

In the undercard, Rimon Rama (4-0-1, 3 KOs) slugs it out with Jomar Diana (2-4, 2 KOs), Mark Vicelles (3-0, 2 KOs) locks horns with Rodel Kirk Pelenio (3-1, 2 KOs), Ponciano Rimandiman (3-4-1, 2 KOs) squares off with newcomer Andrei Navarro, Ar-Ar Borbon (2-1-1, 2 KOs) takes on rookie Roman Getalada and Oliver Genecera (1-0, 1 KO) faces off with newbie Wilbert Rota.

Treat

Fans will also be treated with two sparring matches from two of Omega Boxing Gym?s brightest prospects-World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia-Pacific Youth super bantamweight champion Jhack Tepora and World Boxing Federation (WBF) Asia-Pacific bantamweight king Kenny Demecillo.

Tepora faces Ryan Quimbo in the three-round exhibition, while Demecillo takes on Junnie Salugaol in the sparring match.

Tepora, Demecillo, former Olympian Mark Anthony Barriga and Christian Araneta headline the third installment of OPSI?s boxing series ?Who?s Next??
