LOS ANGELES — If Pacquiao-Morales III turned out to be a blockbuster, would a Pacquiao-Barrera II be just as successful?
Top Rank honcho Bob Arum believes it can be another big hit and is keen on staging the dream rematch.
“It is still attractive,” Arum told Filipino sportswriters here Friday of the prospect of a second Manny Pacquiao-Marco Antonio Barrera clash.
“Exploratory talks are ongoing, but it is dependent upon the outcome of the (Philippine) elections.”
Pacquiao, who dealt Barrera a humbling 11th-round TKO defeat in their first encounter in San Antonio, Texas, on Nov. 15, 2003, is running for congressman in the first district of South Cotabato province, which includes General Santos City, against incumbent Darlene Antonino-Custodio.
Though Juan Manuel Marquez is deemed as another logical foe for Pacquiao for wresting the World Boxing Council super featherweight crown from Barrera last month, Arum is not too optimistic on the bout.
