Ancajas sharp and ready for Puerto Rican champ

Filipino challenger Jerwin Ancajas is looking sharp as a razor blade less than a week before he attempts to dethrone Puerto Rican champion McJoe Arroyo in their International Boxing Federation super-flyweight title fight on Sept. 3 at the Philippine Navy Gym in Taguig City.

Ancajas, 24, has a 24-1-1 win-loss-draw card with 16 KOs and is the underdog against the 30-year-old Arroyo, who sports a 17-0-0 slate with eight KOs.

Arroyo is actually arriving in Manila tomorrow morning via Philippine Airlines from San Francisco and is coming off a victory over another Filipino, King Arthur Villanueva, in July 2015 in El Paso, Texas.

But Joven Jimenez, the trainer of Ancajas, feels the hometown crowd and the fighter?s determination and peak condition should propel him to victory in the free-to-the-public show being staged by MP Promotions of Manny Pacquiao.

?Jerwin?s in great shape and he?s on point,? said Jimenez, who spent most of the training camp in the mountains of Tanay, Rizal.

Ancajas will also try to become the country?s fourth reigning world champion in his showdown with Arroyo after flyweight Johnreil Casimero, bantam Marlon Tapales and Nonito Donaire.
