ALA Boxing wants to sign Tapales

ALA Boxing, the country?s premier promotional outfit, is eyeing to sign up newly-crowned World Boxing Organization bantamweight king Marlon Tapales to a contract.

Even before Tapales?s smashing knockout win over Pungluang Sor Singyu last Wednesday in Ayutthaya, Thailand, Michael Aldeguer, head of ALA Boxing, had expressed his desire to get the 24-year-old Lanao del Norte native.

In fact, Aldeguer had long been fascinated and impressed with Tapales as ALA Boxing had promoted one of his fights.

ALA Boxing has a powerful backer in TV network ABS-CBN, which fully supports the Cebu-based group?s Pinoy Pride series.

Aldeguer has yet to meet with Tapales? chief handler Wakee Salud, who decided to cut short his Singapore vacation so he could ponder on their next move.

Tapales had to pick himself up from two knockdowns in the fifth round, deck his durable Thai foe in the sixth stanza to snatch the WBO 118-lb belt early in the 11th round.
