On August 13 in Pensacola, Florida, a 47-year old totally shot Roy Jones Jr.(63-9) will reportedly fight inactive ?Rocking? Rodney Moore (17-11-2). Moore has not won a fight since 2002 (against Donnell Wiggins) so it may be that Roy has a solid chance to win and retire on a positive note as everyone hopes. This Rockin? Rodney Moore, the ?King of the Blue Horizon? is not to be confused with the one Jones is set to fight.
The good news for Roy is that the 40-year-old ?Rocking? was inactive between 2005 and 2012 and has lost nine in a row to a very stiff level of opposition over a long period of time. During this losing streak, he lost to Richard Hall in 2003, the same Hall whom Jones?then 41-1–stopped in 2000. He has recently fought as a heavyweight weighing as much as 226 pounds against Andrey Fedosov in 2012 and Danny Batchelder in 203.
The bad news for Jones is that Moore has only been stopped once and that was to the very rugged Murat Gassiev. He is no world beater but he is light years more dangerous than Roy?s strange March foe, Vyryon Phillips, and has a solid left hook and a snappy jab. In short, he can offer a workmanlike effort
Hopefully, we will not have a repeat of Jones?s savage KO loss at the heavy hands of Enzo Maccarinelli in his adopted Russia. And hopefully Roy can win and walk away.
Hopefully.
