Yesterday during a teleconference to help promote HBO’s May 5th’s battle between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr., De La Hoya spoke on how Mayweather acting like a brat is motivating him. De La Hoya dissed Mayweather as being a “little brat” and “arrogant” and feels Mayweather needs a humbling experience. De La Hoya also took some time to speak about his sparring partner and long time friend Shane Mosely. De La Hoya who feels Mosley’s speed will be a key factor in helping him prep for Mayweather, complimented Mosley as being a “top fighter” from the Amateurs and someone he has always gotten along with.
?I truly feel that Mayweather needs a humbling experience,? De La Hoya added: ?He really is a little brat. Just the way he comes across, he?s very arrogant. We were on a press tour and he can get on the podium and say a few nice things and then his real side comes out. It?s uncalled for and unnecessary. You would never see Tiger Woods talk bad about Jack Nicklaus. It?s disrespectful and revs me up.?
In regards to Shane Mosley as his sparring partner, De La Hoya stated: ?We?ve always been friends, ever since we were kids,? De La Hoya added: ?He was always the top fighter in the amateurs and every time we would meet or travel together, we always got along. He?s always been a guy I got along with. He?s going to do me the honors of coming down to help me on the second of April and he?ll be here for a month.?
