Pacquiao-Crawford showdown looms as Crawford wins over Postol

WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford looms as Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent after his convincing unanimous decision win over Ukrainian challenger Viktor Postol Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum, who also promotes Crawford earlier said the winner of the Crawford-Postol fight will be Pacquiaos next opponent. Arum confirmed that he had a conversation with Pacquiao regarding the possibility of him facing Crawford in the event that the unbeaten welterweight titlist wins over Postol. “I’ve talked to Manny and he is willing to give [Terence the] opportunity,” the veteran promoter told Boxing Scene. “But first Terence has an important commitment to fulfill before he can receive [that opportunity]. Manny has already said yes,” Arum added. Crawford dominated the fight with two knockdowns on his way to score a unanimous decision win over Postol. who was helpless in neutralizing Crawford’s speed and power. The 28-year-old Omaha native exudes confidence after his near shutout victory before the roughly 7,000 fans at the MGM Grand. ?I just stuck to what I knew ? boxing,? Crawford said. ?That?s movement and that?s boxing,? he added. For his part, Postol admitted that Crawford is a lot faster than him as he conceded defeat. ?It was a good fight between two technicians,? Postol said. ?He?s quicker than me. He?s one of the best fighters in the world. I just didn?t have the answers,? he added. Postol’s trainer Freddie Roach said he was impressed with Crawford’s performance and talent. ?Crawford was just too fast, he surprised me with his talent,? said the seven-time trainer of the year. With his impressive win over Postol, Crawford has made his name known to the discriminating pay-per-view (PPV) buyers that make up Arum’s target market for his looming and lucrative fight against Pacquiao.
