Rumors were flying this week that super featherweight buzz saw, Manny Pacquiao, sustained a one inch cut across his left eyebrow during sparring at the Wild Card gym. Fightnews contacted Justin Fortune, the man currently in charge of Pacquiao’s training. He stated: “Manny did not get cut. It was just a scratch. In fact it didn’t even break the surface of the skin! It’s really nothing. Manny will continue sparring on his regular days, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays.” Regarding Pacquiao’s training, Fortune says: “Manny is 134 pounds right now and he’s about 80% prepared. He came to camp in good shape because he was training very hard in the Philippines. So now, it’s just a matter of topping him off and not letting him overtrain.” As for Fortune’s impression of Pacquiao’s April 14th opponent, Jorge Solis, he adds: “Solis has a nice jab, but his right hand is not devastating. He’s a good fighter, but he’s not a Marquez or a Barrera. Manny is a triple-A fighter, while Solis is just an ‘A’ fighter. Manny will be just too fast and strong for Solis. It’s as simple as that. People know Manny is fast, but they have no idea HOW fast until they get in the ring with him.”
