Adrien Broner: Warning Signs are Flashing

?That day will soon come, be it against the likes of Kell Brook or Errol Spence, especially since he is becoming a lot more trouble than he is possibly worth. While the end will come, Theophane is not the man for the job. While it is almost utterly appropriate that Broner will make his 2016 on April Fool?s Day, the joke is going to be on him if he doesn?t straighten himself out, but some warnings are bound to fall on deaf ears.??Danny Howard

?There are telltale signs in the life of a fighter that should not go unnoticed.? ?Diego Morilla

It?s easy to make light of ?The Problem,? but if and when the worse thing happens, many will say ?oh my, why didn?t we see this coming.? That?s like saying a train is coming down the tracks and you didn?t get off. Diego Morilla nails it in his outstanding article titled ?Boxing must learn from Valero case? dated April 22, 2010 in ESPN Boxing when he concludes, ?Valero?s name?forever stained?will always bear a question mark next to it. And as long as we refuse to acknowledge it and fail to make the effort to find answers and solutions, the possibility of a new and similar tragedy will continue to cast its shadow upon the world of boxing.?

When the news about a fighter?s legal, personal and domestic problems begin to equal his ring exploits, that?s when things can go downhill rapidly. That?s when someone needs to step in.

A pampered Floyd Mayweather Jr. finally got his life in order, but at one point the warning signs were going off like fireworks. Floyd?s short stint seemed to be the interdiction needed to stop his steering wheel from veering toward the curb. In short, the warning signs in Floyd?s case were heeded

However, and unlike Mayweather, the warnings in the case of Edwin Valero could not be more manifest. Sadly, they were ignored.. Where was his entourage when his addiction spun him out of control? Where was his family? Why wasn?t he kept in rehab long enough to rehab him? Where were the Authorities? What happened to Valero was an incomprehensible fast moving series of events.

Kelly Pavlik?s career involved equal portions of warnings and denial, but Jermain Taylor?s was simply a tragedy waiting to happen. This all begs the question: why were boxing authorities so slow in detecting the warning signs when so many others saw them in plain sight?

Broner

As for Broner, he has a litany of erratic behavior including, but not limited to, being interviewed while defecating, stuffing money down a toilet, sticking his tongue where it arguably doesn?t belong, engaging in a three-way porn film, getting a DUI, telling Mayweather Junior to ?F?k Off ?is a video, and now this according to TMZ:

?Per police report, on January 21, a man who had won “thousands” of dollars in bowling bets against Broner that evening was attacked by the fighter outside of the alley, punched several times, and eventually knocked out. It’s also being reported that Broner pulled a gun on the unidentified victim during the assault. Eyewitnesses say that Broner retrieved the betting money from the unconscious victim’s front pants pocket before leaving the scene. The alleged victim was hospitalized and required stitches to close a gash on his chin. There is also a civil suit attached to this incident.?

Combine this with The Problem?s losses to Maidana and Porter, and Broner is no longer the ?Next Mayweather?. The best thing he can do now is find someone who can talk reason to him and then disappear (aka get out of the limelight) for about 3 months?because If this continues, it?s not going to end well.
