LOS ANGELES ? Freddie Roach rolled his eyes when told what went on during Tim Bradley?s open workout a couple of days ago in neighbouring Palm Springs.
Atlas, Bradley?s celebrated cornerman, had likened facing Manny Pacquiao to a child?s ?first ride on a Ferris wheel,? saying that the analogy was foolish.
?Ferris wheels are for four-year olds,? said Roach after a scribe showed him a piece of a footage of Atlas? handling of Bradley?s training session.
Meantime, a stint in the Rio Olympics this August dominated Pacquiao?s Saturday training session with the Filipino icon and his trainer divided over a proposed participation.
Pacquiao kept on harping about a Rio stint by shadowboxing like an amateur, featuring lots of hand movement and kept on muttering ?Olympic boxing, Olympic boxing.?
But Roach is not so keen.
?For me, sometimes, they (pro and Olympic boxing) are two different sports,? Roach told the Bulletin, noting that championship-level pro fights are set for 12 rounds, while Olympic style is just for three.
?It?s grown men fighting kids,? Roach said. (Nick Giongco)
