Ryabinsky eyes merging Wilder-Povetkin / Lebedev-Ramirez events

Ambitious Russian promoter Andrey Ryabinsky is hoping to put his two upcoming world title bouts together on the same high-profile bill.

Having won the purse bid to arrange Deontay Wilder versus his own fighter, Alexander Povetkin, and already announced a cruiserweight unification between Denis Lebedev and Victor Ramirez for April 30, Ryabinsky is now looking into staging both blockbuster clashes in one night.

“There is a high probability close to 100%. I want to combine the two shows into one, and then the show will be big,” Ryabinsky told rsport.ru

“We have contracts signed (for Lebedev v Ramirez). Now I’m trying to rearrange and have agreed to make a single show with Alexander Povetkin. It would be a grand night of boxing. It should also be done in a few weeks. It’s not a big problem.”

Asked about the possibility of holding the Wilder v Povetkin fight in the USA, Ryabinsky said: “I really thought long over whether to organize this fight in America. It has its advantages. Firstly, a different economy. And secondly, Povetkin has a good reputation abroad. But I came to the conclusion that this is not the fight in which to experiment.

“Still, it’s a fight for the world title, and you need to create an environment that would help Alex in this battle. So in this instance, I decided to do everything in Russia,” he added.
