HOLLYWOOD ? Freddie Roach is playing nutritionist and has asked Manny Pacquiao to put on a little more weight just 11 days before the Filipino boxer?s awaited clash with Timothy Bradley.
Pacquiao looks smaller than he was before getting close to a fight.
?It?s a little bit low. I told him to go out and eat steak and put some weight on,? Roach told Pinoy scribes who came to watch Pacquiao train at the Wild Card Gym.
?He?s like 145 (pounds). A little low than I thought it would be. But when you?re working hard that?s a common thing,? said Roach ahead of the welterweight contest.
There?s nothing much Pacquiao can do.
With all the hard work he?s been doing in training, he must be burning way too much calories that there?s not enough food on the table for him to gain extra weight. Sportshub ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch: 1
Pacquiao eats as much as he wants.
The boxer with world titles in eight different weight classes, from flyweight to light-middleweight, ran hard in the foggy mountains of Griffith Park early Monday morning.
There was a little drizzle, too.
?Rain or shine tayo,? said Pacquiao.
For breakfast at his Larchmont Park residence, he finished a mountain of rice, beef steak and his favorite soup, bulalo.
The STAR, who sat beside Pacquiao in the dinner table, asked him about his weight.
There was no answer.
Pacquiao was back at the gym just a little past 1 p.m. He worked out for nearly two hours.
By the time he left the gym, he must have lost a few more pounds.
From the gym, Pacquiao proceeded to the Thai restaurant nearby, and joined his team for late lunch at around four in the afternoon.
Again, he ate all he could, this time feasting on steamed rice, chunks of beef tapa and scrambled eggs.
?Eat all you can,? he said, insisting that there?s no problem with his weight.
?Walang problema. Sa 147 pounds, walang problema ever since. I can still make 135 pounds, where I really was before,? he said.
Again, he was asked what his current weight was. He was not specific with his answer.
?No problem at 147,? he said.
Pacquiao said he?s not even sure yet how heavy he?d be for the official weigh-in.
?It depends on where I?m comfortable at. We?ll see,? he said.
