LIKE any other young promising prospect, Jack Tepora is eager to prove to everyone that he’s the real deal and not just all hype.
Tepora’s road to stardom begins as he headlines Omega Pro Sports International’s “Who’s Next?” Pro-Boxing Series against Jason Tinampay for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia-Pacific Youth super bantamweight belt tomorrow night at the Robinsons Galleria.
“I’m already excited for this fight. I’m ready to become a champion,” said Tepora.
The 20-year-old unbeaten Tepora has been impressive all of his life from the amateur up until the pro ranks.
“Not to brag, but I believe I’m the better fighter,” said Tepora. “This is going to be a great fight.”
Despite being a clear underdog, Tinampay hopes to score a huge upset and put his name up on the map.
“I’ll do everything I can,” said the 20-year-old Boholano slugger. “I’ll do my best because my opponent is undefeated.”
Tepora has been impressive in his campaign in 2015, winning all of his three fights by stoppage against the likes of veterans Jason Egera, Jilo Merlin and Marvin Tampus.
Tepora is 16-0 with 11 knockouts, while Tinampay is 7-2 with six knockouts.
Former world title challenger Vergilio Silvano (20-6-1, 12 KOs) just wants to put on a dominant performance in his 10-round non-title fight against Fernando Ocon (13-10-1, 5 KOs) in the event’s main supporting bout to get his career back on track.
“I’ll show an impressive performance in this fight. I’ll do all my best to knock him out,” said Silvano.
Silvano is on a two fight losing slump, dropping unanimous decision defeats to Jetro Pabustan and Aston Palicte.
Ocon, on the other hand, is also at a stumbling block in his career, dropping five of his last seven bouts. His only win in the last two years is a third round knockout of Juren Labordo.
“I continue to fight for my family,” said Ocon, who is also a boxing coach at the same time. “I’ll do anything to feed my family.”
In the undercard, Jerry Castroverde (7-2, 4 KOs) trades leathers with Ryan Quimbo (4-11-1) in an eight-rounder, Filjun Taneo (squares off with Anthony Galigao (4-8, 2 KOs), unbeaten Allan Villanueva (3-0, 3 KOs) locks horns with Macmac Baribar, RR Borbon (1-0-1, 1 KO) faces off with Russel Rosales and Mark Vicelles (1-0, 1 KO) is up against Ronald Cajes (0-1) in the show’s curtain-raiser.
