Las Vegas – Last night Filipino bantamweight Diosdado Gabi defeated Antonio Mario Cochero of Columbia via second round technical stoppage to improve his record to 29-3-1, 21 KOs.
Gabi presented a balanced attack in the first round taking the fight to Cochero. In the second Gabi pushed the pace and landed a slashing right hand in the closing moments to send Cochero to the canvas.
Referee Toby Gibson called the fight with one second left in the round, as Cochero failed to respond when he returned to his feet. The victory was Gabi’s third in a row after his knockout loss to the outspoken Vic Darchinyan in March of last year.
The bout against Darchinyan was as at the flyweight weight limit, since then Gabi has been campaigning as a bantamweight.
